I Can Grow on My Own is about independence as a choice, and the consequences and benefits that come with it. I drew this piece in Cuba in 2017 (a country defined by its independence). I’ve found independence to be a liberating and reaffirming way of being, yet when misused, it can be isolating from the scent of roses we’ve never taken in.  Especially between love and our own defences; you make a choice to know, or not know.
